Privacy & Data Protection

We're pretty serious about keeping your info safe - here's the full breakdown of how we handle your data

Last updated: January 2024

Look, We Get It

Nobody actually reads these things, right? But since we're dealing with your personal info - whether you're reaching out about a potential project or just browsing our work - we figured you should know what happens with your data. No corporate jargon here, just straight talk about how Aurelion Quinthor Architecture handles your information.

We've been designing buildings in Toronto since 2012, and honestly, protecting client confidentiality has always been part of our DNA. Your trust matters way more than any marketing data ever could.

What Info We Actually Collect

When you fill out our contact form or shoot us an email, we're gonna need the basics - your name, email address, phone number if you're cool with sharing it, and whatever details you want to tell us about your project. That's pretty much it for the required stuff.

Our website also picks up some technical bits automatically - stuff like your IP address, what browser you're using, how long you hang out on certain pages. This helps us figure out if our portfolio section is actually interesting or if everyone's clicking away after 5 seconds (hopefully not!).

Here's the thing: We don't sell your data. Never have, never will. That's not how we roll.

How We Use Your Information

Pretty straightforward, actually. When you reach out to us:

  • We'll respond to your inquiry (obviously)
  • Keep records of our conversations so we don't ask you the same questions twice
  • Send you project updates if we're working together
  • Occasionally share news about our studio (but only if you've said that's cool)

The technical data helps us understand which parts of our site are working and which ones need some love. Like, if everyone's bouncing off our sustainability page, maybe we need to make it less... boring?

Cookies & Tracking Stuff

Yeah, we use cookies - not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. These little data packets help our website remember you and work properly. Some are essential (the site literally won't function without 'em), others help us with analytics.

You can totally disable cookies in your browser settings if you want. Just heads up that some features might act a bit wonky without them. We're using Google Analytics to see how people interact with our site, but we've got it configured to anonymize your IP address because, again, we're not trying to track your every move.

Who Gets to See Your Data

Short answer? Pretty much just us at the studio. Your contact info stays within our team - that's me, our project managers, and whoever needs to actually respond to your inquiry.

We do use some third-party services (our email provider, website hosting, that sort of thing), and technically they process your data too. But we've made sure they're all following Canadian privacy laws and aren't doing anything sketchy with your info.

If you become a client, we might need to share certain details with contractors, engineers, or consultants working on your project - but that's only the stuff they actually need to know to do their job.

Your Rights (Yeah, You've Got Rights)

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA, if you wanna get technical), you can:

Access Your Data

Ask us what info we've got on you - we'll send you a copy

Correct Mistakes

If we've got something wrong, let us know and we'll fix it

Delete Everything

Want us to wipe your data? Just say the word (unless we legally need to keep it)

Opt Out

Unsubscribe from our emails anytime - no hard feelings

How Long We Keep Your Stuff

If you've just inquired about a project and it doesn't move forward, we'll typically keep your contact info for about 2 years. That way if you circle back later, we've still got context. After that, it gets deleted unless you've specifically asked to stay on our mailing list.

For actual clients, we need to hang onto project files and correspondence for 7 years minimum - that's just standard practice in architecture for legal and professional liability reasons. But again, we're not sharing that stuff with anyone who doesn't need it.

Security Measures

We take reasonable precautions to protect your data. Our website uses SSL encryption (that's the little padlock you see in your browser), our servers are secure, and we limit access to personal information within our team.

That said, nothing's 100% bulletproof online. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If there's ever a data breach affecting your info, we'll let you know ASAP and tell you what steps we're taking.

Changes to This Policy

Sometimes we gotta update this stuff - new laws, new services, whatever. When we do, we'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date at the top. If it's a major change, we might send an email to let you know.

We'd recommend checking back occasionally if you're curious, but honestly, we're not planning any dramatic shifts in how we handle privacy.

Questions? Just Ask

Seriously, if any of this is unclear or you've got concerns about your privacy, don't hesitate to reach out. We're humans, not robots, and we're happy to chat about this stuff. You can contact us using the form on this page or directly at:
